What is halotherapy?
Dry salt air, the way nature intended
Halotherapy, or dry salt therapy, recreates the microclimate of natural salt caves. A halogenerator grinds pure pharmaceutical grade salt into tiny particles and disperses them into a quiet room, where you simply sit, breathe and unwind.
Pure salt
Pharmaceutical grade sodium chloride, ground to particles of around 1 to 5 microns, fine enough to float in the air.
Gentle air
A controlled, dry, salt rich atmosphere with no chemicals, steam or fragrance. Just salt and clean air.
Deep calm
Low light, soft sound and 30 or 45 minutes to slow down. Many people find it a restful part of their wellness routine.

Asthma review of 18 studies
Found overall positive effects as an add-on approach with no adverse events reported, and called for larger studies.

Randomised pilot in 55 children
Reported improved bronchial hyper-responsiveness and quality of life scores, with no change in spirometry.

COPD review
Concluded the evidence was too limited to recommend halotherapy for COPD and that rigorous trials are needed.

Is salt therapy a medical treatment?
No. At the Exeter Salt Room halotherapy is offered as a wellness experience. It does not replace advice or treatment from your GP or specialist. If you have a medical condition, please check with your doctor before booking.
What does a session feel like?
Calm and quiet. You sit or recline in a warm, softly lit room while a halogenerator releases dry salt particles into the air. You might notice a faint salty taste. Most people simply relax, read or close their eyes.
Can I use a halogenerator at home?
Yes. The PRIZMA homeSALT is designed for small rooms up to around 4 m², such as a bedroom or study, and runs from a remote control with four intensity modes.
